Relationships (Constellation)
Luminous 3D graph of relationships between characters.
What it's for
The Constellation is an interactive 3D view that represents the relationships between your characters as a luminous graph.
At a glance you see who is linked to whom, discover groupings by location, and follow each character's journey through the chapters. Explore freely with the mouse, click for detail, filter by link type, faction, or chapter range.
Step-by-step guide
Choose a visualisation mode
1
Relations tab: force graph; heavily linked characters cluster together.
2
Locations tab: each location in orbit, characters gravitating around their primary location.
3
Chapters tab: time tunnel; one ring per chapter, threads connecting characters from chapter to chapter.
The camera adjusts for each mode. The ↺ Recentre button returns to the default view.
Navigate the 3D graph
1
Rotate: click and drag. Zoom: scroll wheel. Pan: Shift + drag.
2
Navigation hints appear at the bottom of the left rail.
Select and inspect
1
Click a node (or a name in the left rail): the character enlarges and pulses, its neighbours remain visible.
2
The inspector (right) shows role, faction, chapter journey timeline (clickable cells), clickable relationships, frequented locations, and chapters of presence.
3
Locations mode: a location lists its present characters. Chapters mode: a ring lists characters + locations in the chapter.
Filter and search
1
Link types (Relations mode): toggle by type, All / None button.
2
Factions (all modes): hide/show characters from a group.
3
Search (top right): type a name; matching nodes stay fully lit, others fade.
Time scrubber and settings
1
Relations / Locations: click a graduation mark = end of the active range (from chapter one to the chosen chapter).
2
Chapters: click = moves the playhead. Play ▶: advances automatically in a loop.
3
⚙ Settings: adjust appearance in real time (star field, halo, particles, spacing, auto-rotation…).
Settings reset to defaults each time the Constellation is opened.
Tips
◆
To find a lost character, click their name in the left rail: the camera moves to them.
◆
In Chapters mode, activate Auto-play to watch the temporal threads reveal themselves.
◆
Reduce Relations spacing to tighten the graph, increase it to spread it out.
◆
Raise Out-of-focus fade if you lose context during a selection.
◆
Enable Auto-rotation for a continuously moving presentation.
