The Scene Board

Tarot card view: reorganise, read synopses, filter.

Official Le Grimoire documentation.
What it's for

The Scene Board (Corkboard) gives a visual overview of your novel: parts, chapters, and scenes appear as tarot cards on a cork background.

Here you navigate the hierarchy, reorganise by drag and drop, read synopses, and filter cards. It is also the access point for the Chronological Timeline and the Constellation.

Step-by-step guide

Browse the structure

1
Open the Scene Board (board icon). The first view shows parts (act, chapter/scene count).
2
Double-click a part → its chapters; double-click a chapter → its scenes (tarot cards).
3
Go up a level via the breadcrumb (top left) or the Escape key.

Read and reorganise

1
Click a scene card: right panel with the arcana illustration, synopsis, status, words, narrative day (D+X), fictional date, and present characters.
2
Open in editor: goes directly to writing the scene.
3
Drag and drop a card: a golden bar indicates the target; the order is saved automatically.

Arcana and fictional date

1
Each scene receives a tarot arcana automatically. Right-click a card → choose from eleven arcana; a manual choice locks it (the AI no longer modifies it).
2
The Guide button (open book) explains the narrative meaning of each arcana.
3
In the detail panel, In-world date section: fictional calendar date picker; instant save, reflected on the Timeline.

Create, filter, customise

1
Create: + button or N key at the current level.
2
Filters (scene level): Character, Location, Status, combinable; Reset clears all.
The Character and Location filters search the name in the scene text: results may be imprecise. For an exact list, see the Characters page.
3
Card size S/M/L (resets to M on next open). Background (colour or wood table, remembered). Card theme (live preview on hover).
Tips
◆
Automatic sync: selecting a scene in the Grimoire mirrors the selection in the Board, and vice versa.
◆
Shortcuts: N creates an item; Escape closes a modal or goes up one level.
◆
A yellow banner (parts level) flags scenes with no associated character.
◆
Global statistics (parts, chapters, scenes, words) remain visible at the top right.
