The Chronological Timeline
Your fictional events on a time axis — in 2D and 3D.
What it's for
The Chronological Timeline visualises all your fictional events on a time axis, in the order of your calendar — Gregorian or invented.
Two modes: a horizontal 2D view with scrolling cards, and an immersive 3D view where the same events become tarot cards along a perspective road. Add, edit, and delete events, and jump to the linked chapter.
Step-by-step guide
Browse the 2D timeline
1
The 2D view is shown by default: a horizontal rail where each event is a card (date, glyph, title, excerpt).
2
Scroll horizontally (scroll wheel or bar). A miniature navigator at the bottom shows the full timeline; click to reach a section.
3
Close events are staggered vertically; jump markers (golden zigzag) signal a compression of the axis.
Switch and navigate in 3D
1
2D/3D button (top right): a perspective road appears, tarot cards in three lanes.
2
Scroll wheel: advance/rewind with inertia. ↑/↓ arrows: card by card. Moving the mouse makes the camera oscillate.
3
A date indicator (top left) and a progress bar (bottom, 0–100 %) show your position.
Event detail
1
2D: click a card → right panel (glyph, date, title, synopsis, importance 1-5). Open editor if linked to a chapter.
2
3D: click a card → full-screen card with a dissolve effect.
3
Close by clicking outside or via Escape.
Add, edit, correct
1
+ Event (2D): title, category, date (free text or picker), description, importance.
Accepted dates:
15 January 1842, 1st century BC, Summer 1066, ISO, or a date from your fictional calendar.2
To edit/delete: open the detail → Edit → modify or Delete.
3
An alert banner flags unrecognised dates; click to open the form and correct.
3D themes and fireflies
1
Palette icon (3D): 29 themes (Dark Fantasy, Ghibli, Cyberpunk, Steampunk…) with card back and background preview. Remembered and shared with the Scene Board.
2
Gear icon (3D): fireflies — count (0-10), colour (6 tints), speed (10-150 %), mouse reaction. Presets available; settings persist.
Tips
◆
Frame button (Fit to screen): calculates the right zoom factor to see the entire 2D timeline.
◆
2D zoom from 25 % to 800 %: at high zoom, time gaps become more readable.
◆
Events linked to a chapter have an "Open editor" button; others only have "Edit".
◆
When in doubt about a date, use the ISO format
YYYY-MM-DD.◆
With many fireflies, the 3D scene may slow down: 2 or 3 is a good compromise.
