Cross-cutting Tools

Command palette (Ctrl+K) and keyboard shortcuts.

Official Le Grimoire documentation.
What it's for

Two tools available from any page: the Command palette (Ctrl+K), a universal launcher that groups all actions and all your content, and global keyboard shortcuts, fully customisable.

Type a few letters and jump directly to where you want to go, without searching for a tab or memorising a shortcut.

Step-by-step guide

Open and search (palette)

1
Press Ctrl+K from any screen. Escape (or click outside) closes it.
2
Start typing: the list filters, ignoring case and accents; the most relevant results appear first.
3
Filter tabs: All, Commands, Chapters, Characters, Locations, Notes (with count).

Navigate and open

1
↑ / ↓ to move; Enter to execute/open; Escape clears the input then closes. A mouse click is equivalent to Enter.
2
The preview pane (right) details the selected item (type, excerpt, words, faction, shortcut for commands).
3
With no filter or search, a Recent group lists the last five opened items. A confirmation message appears after each selection.

Customise a shortcut

1
Settings › Advanced › Shortcuts: list of global actions with their key combination.
2
Edit puts the row in listening mode: press the desired combination (e.g. Ctrl+Alt+F).
3
Delete / Backspace during capture unassigns the shortcut; Escape cancels.
A combination must have at least one modifier (Ctrl, Alt, ⌘) or be a function key alone (F1–F12).

Conflicts and reset

1
If the combination is already taken, a confirmation appears; the old action loses its shortcut (conflicts are flagged visually).
2
Per-row reset icon (reverts to default); Reset all restores all shortcuts after confirmation.
Tips
◆
Combine palette and shortcuts: Ctrl+K, type the first letters, Enter. Zero clicks.
◆
Ctrl+K being a registry action, you can rebind it like any other.
◆
Tab filter + search: display "Characters" then type a name to search only within your characters.
◆
An action that doesn't need a shortcut can be set to "None"; it remains accessible via the palette.
◆
Only one shortcut causing issues? The row's reset icon is enough — no need to reset everything.
