What it's for
The Settings page centralises all configuration: appearance, language, editor behaviour, artificial intelligence, and backups. It opens from the gear icon or the Open settings shortcut.
Most changes apply immediately, without confirmation — only AI settings require Save settings.
Step-by-step guide
Appearance and language
1
Appearance › Themes: theme grid (dark, light, custom); one click applies instantly. Filterable by category.
2
Appearance › Interface language: click a card; immediate change (a reload completes any untranslated text).
Document language (per project)
1
Separate from the interface: it controls the spell checker and writing aids for the active manuscript.
2
In the editor, status bar → Document language (or prompt on first aid activation). The choice is remembered per project.
Writing aids are disabled by default and are activated from the editor's status bar.
Automatic backups
1
Data › Backups: enable Enable backups, then Auto-backup.
2
Interval: 5 to 1,440 min (24 h). Choose a folder for the location (default: project folder; Reset returns to it).
3
Create a backup: immediate manual backup (date, size, type Manual/Auto).
Restore a backup
1
Restore icon (arc arrow) → three options:
2
Import into the current project: adds in a "Restore" sub-folder, nothing is replaced (safest).
3
Restore into a new project: creates a new project, the current one stays intact.
4
Overwrite the current project (irreversible): replaces everything; a safety backup is created first, then the app reloads.
AI and shortcuts
1
AI: Le Grimoire mode (shared engine, email + password) or BYOK (your own keys). AI style (tone, point of view, tense, length, creativity), budgets, and automatic knowledge.
Remember to click Save settings after any AI change.
2
Advanced › Shortcuts: customisation of global shortcuts (see the Tools guide).
Tips
◆
Most settings are saved on change; only AI requires Save.
◆
Auto-backup runs in the background with no message: backups appear in the list.
◆
The backup folder can be a synced folder (network drive) to find backups on other machines.
◆
Import into the current project is the safest option for testing a restore.
◆
If in doubt about a project's language, check Document language in the status bar.
